The Temptations by Otis Williams with Patricia Romanowski

This 1988 autobiography by group co-founder and only surviving member Otis Williams is the ONLY such work by any of the Tempts. You can't get a more inside look into the group's formation and evolution. It is what the 1998 NBC miniseries was based on and is a must-read for any Tempts fan. It is out of print, try your local library, an online auction (like eBay) or used-book locating source like www.bibliofind.com 

Deliver Us From Temptation, by Tony Turner
Along the lines of his previous book, All That Glittered, My Life With the Supremes, this is a very tabloid-style account of David and Eddie during the last half of their lives. Turner knew both men very well and provides great detail into his perspective of their lives. While very little is said about any of the other Tempts, it is, if nothing else, an interesting read.

The Temptations (African American Achievers Series) by Ted Cox
This book is directed to a younger audience and provides a general history of the group. It has quite a few photos and is the only book currently available for retail purchase.
